Q2.What are Sanken products used for?

Approximately 60 percent of our semiconductor product sales comes from audio-visual (AV) and information equipment including TV sets (including monitors), audio/computer peripheral equipment, etc. In recent years, however, sales are expanding into home appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, etc.) and sophisticated automotive electronics. |
Q3.What is the history of the Company?
| A3. | In October 1937, the late Yasuzaemon Matsunaga, President of Toho Electric Power Co., Ltd. established The Toho Industrial Research Laboratory as a research institution for science and technology. At this Laboratory, the late Tetsuji Kotani (the founder of Sanken Electric) conducted experiments and research on semiconductor, etc. At the end of World War II, the Laboratory was dissolved and Mr. Kotani took over the engineers and facilities to establish Toho Sanken Electric Co., Ltd. on September 5, 1946. The Company was listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in October 1961 and, in June 1962, the Company was renamed Sanken Electric Co., Ltd. the present name. The Company was listed on the Second Section of the Osaka Securities Exchange in October 1969 and was re-listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange, respectively, in August 1970. Q4.Why was the Company named "Sanken Electric"?
| A4. | The company has its roots in a research institute "Toho Industrial Research Laboratry" Which was established before World War II. After the War, some of the members of the institute incorporated it and named the company "Toho Sanken Co.,Ltd." in order to emphasize the technology-oriented feature as "San" means Industry in English and "Ken" means Research Lab.Finally in 1962, by taking out "Toho" it has been simplified and changed to the current name "Sanken Electric Co.,Ltd." |
