Ishikawa Sanken's 4 plants obtain ISO 14001 certification
Ishikawa Sanken, a subsidiary of Sanken Electric, is the largest assembly base for Sanken semiconductor products. The company's Machino Plant obtained ISO 14001 certification on April 9, 1999. All four of the company's plants have now received ISO 14001 certification. ISO 14001 is an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization for the certification of environmental management systems. Like the three other plants, the Machino Plant works to manage chemical substances, industrial waste, sewage, and resource and energy consumption under an ISO 14001-compliant environmental management system applied through such groups as (1) Environment Group, (2) Environment Management System Review Group, and (3) Environment Assessment Group. To help preserve the earth's environment, specific numerical targets include a 10% reduction in industrial waste and power consumption by the year 2001 at Shiga Plant, Ishikawa Sanken's largest plant. As the key manufacturing base for power IC devices, construction will continue to target enhanced efficiency at Headquarters and increased productivity at Shiga Plant. At Horimatsu Plant, the Headquarters, where a ceremony to mark completion of construction was held on April 21, preparations are being made to obtain ISO 14001 certification. |
